Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled the bust of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) complex in New Delhi. Today marks the 84th birth anniversary of Dr. Kalam.
Paying glowing tributes to the former President, Mr. Modi said Dr. Kalam always looked for challenges and his life is a source of inspiration for all Indians.
Mr. Modi said that government has already acquired the land for Dr. Kalams memorial at his birth place Rameswaram, adding, a committee has been set up to discuss modalities in this regard.
The Prime Minister launched a book on Dr. Kalam's scientific vision and also released a commemorative postage stamp.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that his government will celebrate Ocober 15, Dr. Kalam's birth anniversary, as 'Vachan Prerna Divas' to "encourage reading, a unique tribute to his vision and knowledge."
